[ARCHIVED] City-Wide Water Meter Upgrade Project

citysealcolor

In a continuing effort to improve our water service to you, the City of Fitchburg Water Department, is implementing a city-wide upgrade to our water metering system.  The project will begin in the fall of 2019 and be completed by the fall of 2020.  Approximately 11,000 meters will be replaced/upgraded during the course of this city-wide project.  The upgrade at each home/business includes the installation of a new water meter and MIU (meter interface unit or electronic register) at your home or business (the existing water meter/MIU will be removed and the new water meter/MIU installed).  This installation is mandatory and will be at no additional charge to you for a standard installation.

The installation of the new water meter/MIU is being completed by a contractor (Baystate Winsupply) hired by the city.  Baystate Winsupply is the only contractor completing this work and all Baystate Winsupply employees will have a photo ID badge and drive clearly marked vehicles.  Do not allow any stranger into your home without a photo ID badge and clearly marked vehicle.  Call Baystate Winsupply at 1-866-983-8080 to verify your appointment if you have any doubts.

Customers/property owners will initially be contacted through a letter sent by U.S. mail which will include instructions on how to set up an appointment.  If you receive this letter but are not responsible for scheduling this work at the property, such as in the case of a tenant or renter of the property, please pass this notice on to the owner of the property.  The letter will include instructions on how to schedule an appointment for replacement of the water meter/MIU along with a Work Order # and Service #.

For more information on scheduling on the City-Wide Water Meter Upgrade Project or the process for scheduling an appointment visit the 2019-2020 Water Meter Upgrade page.
