Are you concerned about the misuse and/or abuse of opioids and prescription drugs? What are opioids anyway? Do you recognize the signs of addiction in family members and friends? What can you do to help? Come to the Fitchburg Public Library on June 1 at 6:00 p.m. to learn some answers to these complex questions and to learn about the efforts underway in the Fitchburg region to address this epidemic. The prevention of the misuse/abuse of opioids, which include heroin as well as prescription pain relievers such as Percocet, Oxycodone and Vicodin, is vital to the health of our community. Sue Christensen, noted educator and Program Director at LUK, Inc., will help us understand the impact of the abuse and misuse of these drugs on our families and communities.
This program is sponsored in collaboration with the Massachusetts Opioid Abuse Prevention Collaborative (MOAPC) of Fitchburg, Gardner, Athol and Leominster and Community Health Connections serving all of North Central Massachusetts.
Our Second Annual CosPlay Day will be Saturday, May 30, from 3-6 p.m. Ages 10-18 are welcome to come in costume, or we'll have materials to make a fabulous costume. Anime and snacks, too. Call the Library for details.
